The Valley Creek College Honor Code is a set of shared values all students and faculty commit to. Our shared commitment to these values creates and upholds the culture and experience Valley Creek college is intended to be. The Honor Code consists of 5 foundational values that reflect the heart of who we want to become. They serve as guardrails that guide students on their journey of becoming kingdom leaders and people of love. The values are also an expression of our five distinctives (learn, become, connect, lead, love). Upon acceptance to Valley Creek College, students commit to living out the values in the Honor Code by acting as if they were so throughout their entire VC College experience.
We are committed to becoming lifelong learners who desire to grow in all areas of life. Humble curiosity is expressed through teachability and openness to coaching conversations, being quick to repent, and having a hunger for knowledge, understanding, and growth.
We are committed to becoming people who live set apart and surrendered to God’s ways. While personal holiness is a desire for purity and living out God’s ways, it is also about the transformation of the heart and a life of freedom. Holiness is not about what we can’t do, it’s about we’re now empowered to do. Personal holiness allows Jesus to be the center of our thoughts, words, and actions. It’s choosing to receive God’s grace and be obedient to His ways. Personal holiness is being set apart from the world’s ways and values and walking the narrow road that leads to life.
We are committed to becoming people who are honest with God, ourselves and others. We believe we are fully loved and fully known with no fear of rejection. We acknowledge that we on a journey of being formed into the image and likeness of Jesus believing that He who began a good work in us will be faithful to complete it. Authentic vulnerability is choosing to be seen and showing up with our whole selves because we believe that we belong. In a world of duplicity, authentic vulnerability is allowing ourselves to be known and loved. We choose to live in the light.
We are committed to becoming people who are fully alive. We actively love God and others with our heart, mind, soul and strength. We do everything with energy, enthusiasm and excellence. People see the fire of God burning within us in any and every environment. We embrace hard things with joy because we believe that our life and leadership matter. We engage as active participants by going first and living with intentionally.
We are committed to becoming people who love others the way God loves us. Sacrificial servanthood is learning that everything is not about us. It is putting the needs of others above our own. It is a choice to lose our life that we may truly find it. Sacrificial servanthood is an act of worship and a key to living a life of purpose. It’s a fruit of a life of receiving the grace of Jesus and releasing it others.
